The reason that the vehicle left the highway is still unknown and being investigated by the appropriate authorities.
Dangers of Driving
While necessary driving is a daily activity for many people, it is also one of the most dangerous modes of transportation. On average, there are 3,287 deaths from car accidents around the world every single day. Additionally, car accidents are the leading cause of death among people aged 15 – 29 and annually cost $518 billion on a global scale to respond to accidents.
Theses statistics suggest that while we may feel comfortable and safe in our vehicle, there are many dangers that every driver opens himself or herself up to. Some common causes of car accidents are:
- Distracted Driving
- Drunk Driving
- Speeding
- Reckless Driving
- Unfavorable Weather Conditions
- Failing to Adhere to Signage
- Inexperienced Drivers
Understanding the common causes of accidents is helpful to personally avoid the behaviors as well as look out for them from other drivers on the road.
Responding to a Car Accident
Though it is possible to change our own behavior to help make the road safer, there is no saying what any other driver on the road may do at any given point. Sometimes, crashes are completely unavoidable but can leave a great burden on any injured parties, especially if the driver at fault does not have any insurance. This means that victims of car accidents may be required to pay out of pocket for medical expenses, car repair and any other damages that they may suffer.
These bills can become very expensive and it seems unfair that a blameless party would be required to pay for their own damages. That is why it is important to contact an attorney with experience working on car accident cases so that they can evaluate your case and assess potential damages.
